Juergen Hauschildt

Professor em. Dr. Dr. h.c. Juergen Hauschildt was director of the Institute for Business Administration at the University of Kiel, Germany. In addition to that, he is member of the editorial board of www.crisisnavigator.org, an international Internet guide to crisis management, crisis communications, issues management, risk management, disaster management and business continuity management.

Born in 1936, Juergen Hauschildt served a commercial apprenticeship at Deutsche Erdoel AG in Hamburg and studied business administration at the Technical University of Berlin and at the University of Hamburg. He received his diploma in business administration at the University of Hamburg in 1960. His doctorate followed at the University of Mannheim in 1964 and his habilitation (venia legendi) at the same university in 1970.

From 1970 to 1979 he has been a professor of business administration (specializing in finance and banking) at the University of the Saarland in Saarbruecken. Between 1979 and 1999, he was a professor of business administration (specializing in organizational science) at the University of Kiel. Since 1999 Juergen Hauschildt is the managing director of the Study Center for Business Administration - responsible for the education of technical and chemical engineers in business administration - at the University of Kiel.

During his academic career Juergen Hauschildt held various administrative positions: Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (1989-1991), member of the board of directors of the Scientific Association of Professors of Business Administration (1991-1992), coordinator of the research program "Theory of innovation management" of the German Research Foundation, vice president of the supervisory board of the Treuverkehr AG, Frankfurt am Main (1981-1996). Furthermore, we has worked as a consultant to banks and service firms in the field of planning, diagnosis and expert systems.

In 1993 Juergen Hauschildt recieved a honorary doctorate of the University of Rostock. He has published numerous articles and books on organizational theory, crisis diagnosis, risk and financial management, controlling, financial statement analysis, decision theory, innovation management and empirical research.
